Africa Design Days (& Award), founded by designer Hicham Lahlou, is an initiative designed to enhance and value Design in Africa. Africa Design Days & Award is driven by influential members and experts from around the world, all passionate about Africa and sharing the same vision of progress for the continent. Africa Design Days & Award aspires to position Africa at the heart of the global design scene, a strategy that aims to create one of the largest emerging design networks in all countries and across all categories. This major initiative represents a first for design in Africa. For the founder of the project, the designer Hicham Lahlou, Africa Design Days & Award is a vision for Africa, beyond the creative force of the talents of the continent; it is an ambitious bet that will place design at the heart of a dynamic of progress and of coherence for future projects.
Africa Design Days is the event branch, showcase and expression of this ambitious project, with the support of influential members and experts from around the world, all committed to positioning Africa at the heart of the global design scene. In 2014, under the patronage of HE Ali Bongo Ondimba, and with the remarkable support of Richard Attias and the New York Forum Africa, the world's first Pan-African Business Summit of which he is the founder, Award ceremony of Africa Design Award 2014 was held on May 25 in Libreville, Gabon. In 2015, Africa Design Days & Award teamed up with the ONA Foundation to organize Africa Morocco Design Days 2015, a unique event that featured more than 40 international designers from over 10 African countries, including creators and craftspeople from Morocco. In 2017, Africa Design Days is organizing an event to be held from 28 to 30 June 2017 in Rabat, Morocco, hosting the 4th WORLD DESIGN TALKS, under the theme "Responsible Consumption & Production".
Organized by Africa Design Days (ADD) and initiated by international designer Hicham Lahlou and the World Design Organization (WDO), this major pan-African and global continental event is an unprecedented showcase for the African innovation and design community as well as a privileged space for exchanges to develop collaborations between designers, policy makers, companies and citizens.
More than 300 participants, including 70 influential international figures in the field of innovation through design will take part in this event which will take place from 28 to 30 June in Rabat, Morocco.
In line with the objectives set by the United Nations, this event will address the challenges of sustainable development, focusing on education issues, economic development, crafts and culture and urban development.
